Mercruiser Transom Shield Steering Pin Corrosion Repair - Shipped to Us

A common corrosion problem with Mercruiser transom shields: the seal under the steering pin bush can allow water around the sealing surface, which leads to corrosion and, eventually, a passage for water to leak into the boat.

Sawley's has designed a system and tooling to bore out the housing and fit a sleeve into it, restoring the sealing area. This repair can be carried out either in our workshop or on-site with the transom shield still in the vessel.

The repair involves precise boring and sleeving to restore the function and durability of the gimbal housing, improving performance and extending the lifespan of your Mercruiser components.

• The housing must be bare (all components removed) and clean before work begins
• The upper sealing area is sleeved and a new brass bush and seal are fitted
• Extra charges apply if the housing needs cleaning or components removed

• Return freight is invoiced on completion and payment is required prior to us shipping the assembly back

• If you are unable to remove your transom shield with ease, you can disassemble the external components and we will attend and fit the repair on-site instead.
