🔧 Product Description
Transocean Optima 232 AU Self-Eroding Antifouling - Blue 10L - Reference: TO 2.32AU Blue 10L
A professional blue cuprous-oxide antifouling for submerged vessel hulls. The Australian Optima 232 AU formulation is a tin-free, self-eroding coating that gradually renews its active surface in service, helping protect against marine fouling for extended periods when applied over a compatible anticorrosive and tie-coat system.
⚙️ Key Features
- Tin-free, self-eroding antifouling technology
- Cuprous-oxide based fouling protection
- Flat blue finish
- Designed for protection periods up to approximately 18 months and occasionally up to 24 months, depending on service conditions
- Compatible with approved Transocean anticorrosive coating systems
- Complies with the IMO Antifouling System Convention and is registered for Australian use
📏 Specifications
- Pack size: 10L
- Colour: Blue
- Appearance: Flat
- Volume solids: Approximately 56%
- Recommended dry-film thickness: Approximately 75µm per specified coat
- Indicative theoretical spreading rate: Approximately 7.5m²/L at 75µm dry-film thickness
- Indicative theoretical coverage per pack: Approximately 75m² before application losses
- Australian product registration: APVMA 84506-110537
🔄 Related & Comparable Products
- Comparable polishing/self-eroding antifouling categories include International Micron Extra 2 and Hempel Mille NCT
- Comparable coatings are not direct overcoat substitutes; confirm compatibility, primer system, active chemistry and local registration before changing products
- Other Transocean systems may be preferred for different vessel speeds, service intervals or fouling environments
🎨 Application & Suitability
- Suitable for appropriately prepared steel, fibreglass, timber and other approved hull substrates over the specified primer or tie coat
- Apply by airless spray, brush or roller in accordance with the current Transocean product data sheet
- Use additional coats or stripe coats around waterlines, leading edges, chines, rudders and high-wear areas where the coating specification requires them
- Practical coverage will be lower than theoretical coverage because of surface profile, roller or spray losses, overspray and hull geometry
- Select colour and total film build as part of the complete antifouling specification
⚠️ Application Notes & Safety
- Do not apply directly to bare aluminium or other reactive metal without a manufacturer-approved barrier system
- Confirm the existing antifouling and tie coat are compatible before overcoating
- The hull must be clean, dry, sound and free of salt, oil, slime, loose paint and contamination
- Use only the specified Transocean thinner or cleaner when required and avoid excessive thinning
- Observe current temperature, humidity, recoating and launching windows from the product data sheet
- Contains cuprous oxide and solvents; use approved respiratory, eye, skin and environmental controls
