Genuine Volvo Penta retainers — retaining plates, lock plates, keepers, clips and locking tabs that hold fasteners, bearings and shafts in position.

Lock tabs and locking plates are bent to shape on assembly and work-harden where they fold. Straightening and reusing one is how it cracks at the fold and releases the fastener it was holding.
